REV FR SAMUEL TABESON TANYI (PHD) Born in Mamfe, attended Government High School, Mamfe and Bishop Rogan College, Small Soppe Buea. After a Probational year in Widikum/Mbeme parishes, I proceeded to the Spiritual Formation Centre in Bafut and later to the St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Bambui from 2001-2009 where I obtained the Bachelor’s Degrees in Philosophy and Theology. After serving in the Diocese for 3 years at Mbeme Parish, I went to the Catholic University of Central Africa - UCAC ICY- NKOLBISSON where I obtained a Master’s Degree in Biblical Theology in 2014, defended the Dissertation titles; “THE PHENOMENON OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES: AN EXEGETICAL UNDERSTANDING OF 1 Cor. 14:1-28. . I returned to the Diocese and served in various capacities for 5 years and in September 2019, I went to Rome for further studies. For 5 years, I was in Rome for further Studies at the prestigious Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas, known as the Angelicum. The Bishop asked me to complete my studies in Biblical Theology. While in Rome, I completed a Licentiate in Biblical Theology in the first year with the LECTIO CORAM THEME: CHRISTOLOGICAL UNDERSTANDING OF THE MISSION-SUCCESS IN MK 6:7-13 After that, I completed and defended my Doctorate Degree in Biblical Theology, the title of my Thesis being, JOHN THE BAPTIST’S ‘LEAP FOR JOY’ IN THE LIGHT OF HIS PROPHETIC CALLING AND MISSION (AN EXEGETICAL-THEOLOGICAL STUDY OF LUKE 1: 41, 44) Coming to study without a Sponsorship, the Diocese paid for my studies for one academic year and I had to search for a Parish where I could reside and pursue my studies. Thank God, I was welcomed by the Santa Maria Immacolata Parish, at Grottarossa – Diocese of Rome from December 2020 to 2024 when I concluded my stay in Rome.
While doing the Doctorate at the Angelicum, I followed my special passion in Project Management, Finance and Human Resource and did a 2 years Master’s Course in Church Management and Finance at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross; also known as the Santa Croce; another 1 year Course in the Formation of Seminary Formators and another Course in Safeguarding and Protection of Minors. These were very personal endeavours.
At the End of the Doctoral Studies, I returned home and asked to serve as the Deputy Registrar in charge of Students’ Affairs at the Catholic University of Cameroon, Bamenda and other part-time functions; Chaplain of the Servants of the Paschal Lamb; Coordinator of the Provincial and Diocesan Biblical Apostolate Commissions, Coordinator of Mamfe Diocesan Diaspora Cathedraticum and Pilgrimages, and Lecturer at the St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Bambui.
